Tanzania and Zanzibar
A Mother-Daughter Adventure
Tanzania has always been on my bucket list—but what made it truly unforgettable was sharing the experience with my youngest daughter. She flew in to meet me, and from the moment we set out, I knew we were in for something special. This wasn’t just a trip—it was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure we’ll be talking about forever. We booked through Trip Quest, and let me tell you, they handled everything. From the second we landed to the moment we left Zanzibar, we didn’t have to worry about a single detail. That peace of mind let us fully immerse ourselves in the experience—and wow, was there a lot to take in.
Our journey began in the world-famous Serengeti National Park, and I swear it felt like we were dropped into the middle of a wildlife documentary. Everywhere we turned, animals were just living their wild, beautiful lives—completely free. We saw all of the Big Five (yes, even the elusive leopard and black rhino!), plus cheetahs, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, hippos, and more lions than I could count. One thing that really struck me was seeing the Maasai tribe living among all this wildlife. Their bright red clothing, their deep connection to the land, and the way they live side by side with animals most of us only see in zoos—it was powerful. There’s something incredibly grounding about watching people live so closely with nature, and it gave me a whole new appreciation for this part of the world.

From there, we headed to the Ngorongoro Crater, and I honestly didn’t expect to be so blown away. The views from the top are unreal, and when you descend into the crater, it’s like entering a lost world. Elephants strolled past our vehicle, lions lazed in the grass, and zebras zig-zagged through the plains. It’s hard to put into words how surreal it all felt—like time just paused and let us be fully present.

After several days of early mornings, dusty roads, and more animal sightings than I could’ve dreamed, we flew to Zanzibar for some much-needed downtime. And oh my goodness—what a dream. We stayed in a beautiful villa tucked into the trees, where monkeys literally swung by to say hello. It was peaceful, quiet, and so incredibly relaxing that we never wanted to leave.Zanzibar gave us time to breathe, laugh, and reflect on everything we’d just experienced. The beach was just steps away, the air was warm, and the pace of life slowed to a blissful crawl. It was the perfect way to end such a wild and wonder-filled journey.Just... Wow.This trip gave me so much—adventure, connection, beauty—but most of all, time with my daughter in a place that felt completely magical. I’ll carry these memories with me forever, and if you’ve ever dreamed of doing a safari, do it. Tanzania is the real deal, and Trip Quest made the whole thing smooth and stress-free.And to my fellow moms—if you ever get the chance to travel somewhere wild and beautiful with your daughter, take it. These are the stories we’ll be telling for the rest of our lives.Want to include any specific moments or funny things that happened along the way? I can work those in too!
